What this policy covers
This privacy policy explains how the mobile application Paycheck Calculator (the “app”) handles information when you use it. The app is published under the package name paycheck.calculator.takehomepay.
The short version
- The pay and tax figures you enter never leave your device. Every calculation happens locally on your phone.
- We do not collect, store, or transmit your salary, wages, deductions, or the results the app calculates.
- The app does not require an account or sign-up.
- The app shows ads through Google AdMob, which uses your device’s advertising identifier.
- The app sends anonymous, aggregate usage analytics to our own first-party analytics service, to help us fix bugs and improve the app. This never includes the numbers you enter.
What we do NOT collect
- Your salary, hourly rate, bonus, overtime, deductions, filing status, or the take-home results the app calculates.
- Your name, employer, Social Security number, bank details, or other personal identifiers, unless you choose to send them to us through the contact form.
- Your precise location.
- Your contacts, calendar, microphone, camera, photos, or files.
What stays on your device
Your app preferences, such as your chosen light or dark theme, are stored in a private on-device database. This information stays on your phone and is never uploaded by us. Uninstalling the app deletes it. The pay and tax figures you type in are used only to calculate your result on the device and are not saved to any server.
Permissions the app requests
Internet access
The app uses the internet only to serve advertisements (Google AdMob) and to send anonymous usage analytics and crash diagnostics to our own first-party analytics service. The pay and tax figures you enter are never sent over the network. The app does not request file, storage, location, camera, or contacts permissions.
Advertising — Google AdMob
We monetize the free app with Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and process the following on Google’s servers in order to serve and measure ads:
- Your device’s advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID on Android).
- General device information such as device model, OS version, language, and approximate region.
- IP address and ad interaction events.
In the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, the app presents a Google-certified consent message (Google’s User Messaging Platform) so you can choose whether ads are personalized, and you can reopen those choices from the app’s Settings screen. You can reset or remove your advertising identifier at any time in your device settings. Google’s use of advertising data is governed by Google’s own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy, and AdMob’s practices are described here: support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543.
Analytics
The app uses a first-party, self-hosted analytics service (running on Cloudflare) that collects anonymous, aggregate usage data to help us understand how the app is used and to detect and fix problems. For these purposes it may receive:
- App usage and interaction events (for example, screens opened and features used), in aggregate.
- General device and app information such as device model, operating system version, app version, and approximate region.
- An anonymous app-instance identifier and diagnostic information.
This data is anonymous, is never used to serve personalized ads, is not sold, and never includes the pay or tax figures you enter or any other personal content. It is used only to improve the app’s stability and experience.
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. The parties that receive data are Google AdMob (to provide and measure advertising) and our own first-party analytics service (self-hosted on Cloudflare, receiving only anonymous usage data), each subject to its respective terms and privacy policy.
Children
The app is a general-audience financial utility intended for adults and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will respond.
Data retention
Your theme and app preferences stay on your device only. Uninstalling the app deletes all on-device data. Data held by Google AdMob is retained according to Google’s policies. Our first-party analytics retains only anonymous, aggregate event data.
Your rights
Because we do not collect personal data on our own servers, there is nothing on our side for you to access, correct, export, or delete. For data Google may hold about your device’s advertising identifier, you can manage your preferences in your device settings or via Google’s ad settings page: adssettings.google.com.
Estimates only, not tax advice
The app is an estimating tool. Its results depend entirely on the figures you enter and are provided for general guidance only. Your actual take-home pay depends on your employer’s exact payroll withholding, local taxes, and benefit elections, and may differ from the app’s estimate. The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or any state or local tax authority, and it is not a substitute for professional tax, accounting, or legal advice. For official information, see irs.gov.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The current version is indicated by the “Last updated” date below. Material changes will be published at this URL before they take effect in the app.
